Are you bored with your workout ? Do you walk into the gym without a plan? Not today !!!! I am giving you a boost to your cardio routine for Try It Tuesday !
Today I want you to step out of your comfort zone and onto the treadmill for some interval training !! Don’t cringe … it’s just one day for you to try something new! You may love it or hate it but just try !!!
Before you start, make sure you are properly warmed up. Do at least a 5 minute jog at a steady pace and some light stretching before jumping into any of these workouts ! Always warm the body up before going into a workout so it is prepared for the workload to be performed to reduce injury.
So hop on a treadmill and get ready to RUN !
Here are a few FUN HIIT variations you can try or add into your current routine !
1.) Play with the incline. Try to always have it at a 1 % incline no matter what you are doing on the treadmill due to natural gradient outside being at least 1 %. Bump up the incline to increase the intensity and feel the glutes burn !!!
2.) Jog for 5 minutes as a warm up ! For 1 minute SPRINT then jump off the treadmill (leaving it running) and perform 30 seconds of jump squats behind the treadmill, take 1 min rest by walking on the treadmill. Then get back on and SPRINT for one minute and jump off and perform another movement. Try to do at least 10 full rounds !!!
3.) Tabata Sprints: 10 seconds rest and 20 seconds work for 8 rounds ! This one is a killer ! It will get your heart rate up and time will fly by ! Complete 3 rounds of Tabata sprints varying the incline !
4.) Below is a great example of a HIIT workout on a treadmill !
Push yourself just a little bit. Don’t give up with a few seconds left !! You will be surprised how strong you are !!
