You are confident in your job, your social life, even your relationships but when it comes to learning something new confidence shifts to insecure and unsure about the simple things that you already know. Why do we feel it is necessary to ask others their opinions about what they think “YOU” should do? It’s a common issue that happens every day when talking with my clients. Too many people are insecure just stepping into the gym and onto the weight room floor. The use of the internet and social media has “professionals” all over it. Who is talking about what diet and new training program. Who lost 50 pounds on this program and who built a solid physique from the ground up but what you don’t realize is that every situation is not right for every person.
In order to be confident, we need to start listening to ourselves and start trusting our own instincts of what we already know. It is by trial and error that you find out what works best for your body. What works for one will not necessarily work for another. This is why it gets frustrating when results are not following the hours of work you are putting in. It is completely ok to research and ask others for help, but you need to take it with a grain of salt. Keep the important information and throw away the useless stuff.
No matter how many people you ask for advice about food and diet, you will not figure it out until you enable yourself to trust your own instincts. It is a process and a learning one at that. I know from experience that for my diet I need more carbs than fat. But if i just stick to what I know, I will see results, and so will you! Be smart and ask a lot of questions. Be sure to learn and become knowledgeable about anything you start. The one piece of advice I will give is to not listen to every person and make decisions based upon the knowledge you have and what you obtain but don’t let someones opinion persuade yours.
It is important to learn how to think for yourself and to be confident in you own decisions. Trust your own instincts and your body before relying on others for advice. Take what you know and apply it and if it didn’t work that’s ok. Try something new and embrace failure as part of the process !!!
