Mobility, foam rolling and releasing all that tension in your muscles is very important to keep your body moving properly before and after WOD’s. Using the RAD Roller for myofascial tissue release is great for getting into those tight sore muscles. Using the correct size RAD Roller ball can make all the difference when trying to pin point sore spots in your muscles.
Here is a list of a few examples of some of the muscle you can target using this Rad Roller !
- Quad and Adductor – The pamphlet suggested rolling out the insertion point of the quad and adductors, right at the hip, using the larger Rad Roller. Sometimes the adductors and quads are hard to target because they are low to the ground and harder to hit certain points without awkward contortions. One thing you can do is add a block so you are raised up with the Rad Roller but be careful not to roll off.
- Chest and Inner Shoulder – Releasing tension in the pec minor and shoulder is great to increase shoulder mobility and flexibility for overhead and front rack positions. You can use the Rad Roller on the ground or against a wall pushing into the tight areas.
- Pecs and Shoulder – I found the green Round was great for my pecs and shoulder when I used it against the wall. It was difficult for me to hit this area with the Small Roller because it was a bit too heavy on the wall and too low to the ground for my chest, but the Round will hit and target that sore spot.
- Tricep – Using the Green Roller it’s was easy to effectively roll out the triceps on the floor or the wall.
- Hand – The Blue Rad Roller is also great for the hands .It feels like it releases a burst of tension around the heel of my palm and the base of my thumb. It helps with releasing tension from grip support and hanging onto bars with tight tension.
- Feet – For anyone on their feet a lot or for the runners out there, the little Rounds are the trick to relieve pain. Using the Rounds on the arches and heels of your feet can provide relief and release the lactic acid that lead to pain.
Ensuring that you are keeping your muscles healthy and mobile is critical to the continuation of being a good athlete. You want to have the Rad Rollers at home so you can always have options outside of the gym to get in extra mobility work.
